Dermapen 4 Microneedling in Brighton and Hove
Advanced microneedling for improved skin quality
At Noaem Skin in Hove, Dermapen 4 microneedling is performed by Iki Rhode, prescribing pharmacist and co-founder of the clinic.
Every treatment combines Dermapen 4 with an additional modality selected to extend what can be achieved during the appointment.
Dermapen 4 TriLuxe combines microneedling with professional topical formulations and the Dermapen ÜBER PRO Peel. Each component addresses a different aspect of the treatment.
Dermapen 4 PolyLuxe combines microneedling with the topical application of polynucleotides. It may be selected where texture, resilience or post-acne scarring is the principal concern.
Iki assesses the skin before recommending which approach is more appropriate.
IN BRIEF
- Appointment time: 90 minutes.
- Anaesthetic: Not required.
- Downtime: Redness usually settles within 24 hours but may last up to 36 hours.
- Makeup: Usually after 24 hours, provided the skin is intact and sufficiently recovered.
- Results begin: Surface improvement as the skin settles, with progressive change across a course.
- Treatment Course: Usually 4–6 treatments at four-week intervals.
How MICRONEEDLING works
Dermapen 4 uses fine, rapidly moving needles to create controlled microchannels within the skin. This initiates a repair response involving fibroblast activity and the production of new collagen.
The microchannels also facilitate the topical application of formulations selected for the treatment. This allows the needling and accompanying formulations to be planned as one procedure, each targeting a different stage of the skin’s response.
Improvement develops gradually as the skin repairs. A corrective course is normally recommended because changes in texture and tissue quality build across successive treatments.
What microneedling may improve
Microneedling may be recommended for:
- Uneven or rough skin texture
- Fine lines
- Enlarged pores
- Post-acne scarring
- Dull or uneven-looking skin
- Early changes in firmness and resilience
It may also form part of a longer-term plan for maintaining skin quality before more significant changes become established.
Treatment can be used across a broad range of skin tones.
DermaPen 4 TriLuxe | £235.00
Dermapen 4 TriLuxe combines microneedling with professional topical formulations and the Dermapen ÜBER PRO Peel.
The formulations are selected according to the condition of the skin. The peel is applied following microneedling to support improvement in uneven-looking tone and surface texture.
Dermapen 4 TriLuxe may be recommended when uneven texture, visible pores or uneven-looking tone are among the principal concerns.
DermaPen 4 PolyLuxe | £355.00
Dermapen 4 PolyLuxe combines microneedling with the topical application of polynucleotides.
Microneedling creates controlled microchannels and initiates the skin’s repair response. The polynucleotide formulation is applied across the treated skin during the procedure, allowing it to form part of the wider regenerative protocol. Together, these stages are intended to support hydration, resilience and gradual improvement in skin quality.
Dermapen 4 PolyLuxe may be recommended where progressive collagen loss, reduced resilience or post-acne scarring is the principal concern. It can also be relevant for skin affected by hormonal change.
The formulation is applied topically as part of microneedling rather than injected directly into the tissue. PolyLuxe is therefore different from injectable polynucleotide treatment, although both approaches use polynucleotides to support improvements in skin quality.
THE TREATMENT IN DETAIL
Before treatment, Iki examines the skin and selects the formulations appropriate for its current condition.
The skin is cleansed before microneedling begins. Anaesthetic cream is not used. Most patients describe light scratching or prickling, with some areas feeling more sensitive than others. The Dermapen moves quickly across each treatment area, so the sensation in any one place is brief.
During Dermapen 4 TriLuxe, selected professional topical formulations are applied as the Dermapen moves across the skin. The ÜBER PRO Peel follows the needling stage and may produce temporary warmth or tingling.
During Dermapen 4 PolyLuxe, the polynucleotide formulation is applied topically as part of the microneedling procedure.
Both treatments conclude with a soothing mask. Skincare and sun protection are then applied to calm and protect the skin.
Retinoids, exfoliating acids and other potentially irritating products should be paused as advised before treatment. Avoid deliberate sun exposure and do not apply fake tan to the treatment area.
The skin will look flushed immediately afterwards, similar to mild sun exposure. Redness usually settles within 24 hours but may remain visible for up to 36 hours.
A soothing mask concludes treatment and a take-home aftercare product will be provided. Keep skincare simple while the skin recovers and avoid irritating active ingredients until advised that they can be restarted.
Makeup can usually be applied after 24 hours, provided the skin is intact and has recovered sufficiently. Daily sun protection is essential in the weeks following treatment.
Dermapen 4 TriLuxe may cause mild dryness or light shedding because it includes the ÜBER PRO Peel. This should be allowed to resolve naturally.
Microneedling will be postponed if the treatment area is sunburnt, infected, broken or experiencing an active inflammatory breakout. Iki will review your medical history, medication, skincare and recent procedures before deciding whether treatment is appropriate.
Temporary redness, warmth, sensitivity, swelling, dryness and light shedding can occur. Pinpoint bleeding may be visible during treatment. Less commonly, prolonged irritation, infection, pigment change or scarring may develop. Preparation, treatment depth and aftercare are adapted to the individual skin.
Some patients notice an improvement in hydration and surface smoothness as the initial redness settles. Changes associated with collagen production take longer to develop and become more apparent across a course.
A corrective course usually consists of four to six treatments spaced four weeks apart. The number recommended depends on the concern, the degree of change and how the skin responds.
Post-acne scarring may require a longer course than treatment intended to improve general skin quality. Maintenance appointments can be discussed after the corrective course according to the result and the patient’s longer-term aims.
Frequently Asked Questions
Anaesthetic cream is not used. Most patients describe light scratching or prickling during the quick needling stage, with some areas feeling more sensitive. The sensation is temporary.
A corrective course usually consists of four to six treatments at four-week intervals. The number recommended depends on the concern and how the skin responds.
Microneedling may improve atrophic post-acne scarring by supporting collagen production across a corrective course. Assessment is required because different scarring types, and those with associated pigmentation changes, may need a different approach.
Microneedling can be used across a broad range of skin tones because it does not rely on targeting pigment with heat or light. Assessment remains important because inflammation can trigger pigmentation in susceptible skin. Treatment depth, preparation and aftercare are adapted accordingly.
Both treatments use Dermapen 4 microneedling. TriLuxe incorporates selected topical formulations and the ÜBER PRO Peel and may be recommended for uneven texture, visible pores or uneven-looking tone. PolyLuxe incorporates a topical polynucleotide formulation and may be selected where texture, resilience or post-acne scarring is the principal concern. Iki will recommend the appropriate protocol following assessment.
Microneedling is generally used to address post-acne scarring rather than needling through active inflammatory or infected lesions. Active acne should be assessed and brought under suitable control before scar treatment begins.
Begin with The Noaem Skin Consultation
A microneedling plan begins with The Noaem Skin Consultation. Iki will assess your skin and establish whether Dermapen 4 TriLuxe, PolyLuxe or another treatment is more appropriate.
The consultation also establishes whether the skin needs preparation before treatment and how many appointments are likely to be required.
