Eye rejuvenation treatments in Brighton and Hove
The eye area is often one of the first places to show tiredness and changes in skin quality. The skin is thinner than elsewhere on the face, making reduced hydration and fine lines more visible, along with a gradual loss of resilience.
Dark circles, crepey skin and crow’s feet do not all have the same cause. Treatment begins by establishing whether the concern relates to the quality of the under-eye skin, repeated muscle movement or a combination of factors.
At Noaem Skin, eye rejuvenation may include under-eye polynucleotides, mesotherapy or botulinum toxin for crow’s feet, commonly called smile lines. Each treatment has a different role and may be recommended alone or as part of a wider plan.
Treatment is selected following an Eye Rejuvenation Consultation with Dr Chris. Dr Chris is a GMC-registered doctor with a clinical background in anaesthesia and critical care.
Eye rejuvenation treatments
Under-Eye Polynucleotides
For fine lines, crepey skin and reduced resilience
Polynucleotides are injectable treatments that support repair processes within the skin. Around the eyes, they are used to improve tissue quality where the skin has become thinner, less elastic or more finely lined.
Under-eye polynucleotides are administered by Dr Chris.
Under-Eye Mesotherapy
For dehydration and tired-looking under-eye skin
Mesotherapy places small amounts of a skin-supporting formulation into the superficial layers beneath the eyes. It may be recommended where dehydration, dullness or reduced skin quality is contributing to a tired appearance.
Under-eye mesotherapy is administered by Iki Rhode or Dr Christopher Vary following assessment.
Botulinum Toxin for Crow's Feet
For lines caused by repeated expression
Crow’s feet, also commonly called smile lines, develop through repeated movement of the muscles around the eyes. Botulinum toxin, commonly known as Botox, temporarily reduces the activity of selected muscles, softening these lines while retaining natural facial expression.
Botulinum toxin treatment around the eyes is administered by Dr Chris.
Home Care for the Eye Area
For ongoing support between appointments
A retinol eye cream may support cell renewal and improve the appearance of fine lines over time. The eye area can be sensitive, so the product and frequency of use need to be appropriate for the skin.
A suitable retinol eye cream can be discussed during consultation.
What makes the eye area look tired?
Patients often describe the eye area simply as looking tired, but several different changes can create that appearance. Identifying the main cause helps avoid recommending a treatment that cannot deliver the result being sought.
The skin beneath the eyes is naturally thin and becomes less resilient as collagen production and hydration decline. Fine lines may become visible even when the face is at rest. Polynucleotides or mesotherapy may be appropriate depending on the degree of change and the condition of the skin.
Lines at the outer corners of the eyes are strongly influenced by facial expression. They appear when smiling or squinting and may become more visible over time. Where repeated muscle movement is the principal cause, botulinum toxin may be an effective treatment.
Dark circles can result from several factors including thin skin, visible vessels, pigmentation or the natural contours beneath the eyes. Polynucleotides and mesotherapy may improve darkness where reduced skin quality or dehydration contributes to the appearance.
Injectable skin-quality treatments will not correct every cause of under-eye darkness, true tear-trough hollowing or prominent under-eye bags.
Temporary puffiness may relate to fluid retention, sleep or lifestyle. Persistent under-eye bags can have a structural cause that may require an alternative treatment. Dr Chris will explain whether treatment is likely to provide a worthwhile benefit.
Declining oestrogen affects collagen production, hydration and the resilience of the skin. These changes can become particularly noticeable around the eyes, where the tissue is already thin. Treatment can be planned as part of a broader approach to hormonally changing skin.
The Eye Rejuvenation Consultation
A 45-minute consultation establishes what is contributing to the concern before treatment is recommended.
Dr Chris will examine the under-eye skin and the way the muscles around the eyes move. He will also consider whether pigmentation, vascular visibility or changes in facial structure are contributing to the concern.
Dr Chris will determine whether one treatment or a combination is most appropriate for the concerns identified.
Frequently Asked Questions
The appropriate treatment depends on what is causing the concern. Polynucleotides support the quality and resilience of thin or crepey under-eye skin. Mesotherapy may be recommended where hydration and a depleted appearance are the priorities. Botulinum toxin is used for crow’s feet caused by repeated muscle movement. Dr Chris will assess the area before making a recommendation.
Under-eye polynucleotides are usually recommended as a course of two to three sessions spaced approximately four weeks apart. Botulinum toxin is generally repeated every three to four months if you wish to maintain the effect. The number and timing of mesotherapy appointments will be recommended according to your skin and its response.
Small raised areas, mild swelling or redness can occur after under-eye injections. Bruising is also possible. These effects usually settle over the following days, although recovery varies between patients and treatments. Dr Chris will explain what to expect once the treatment plan has been agreed.
They may help when darkness is partly caused by thin, dehydrated or reduced-quality skin. Dark circles can also result from pigmentation, visible vessels or the natural structure beneath the eyes. Assessment is important because not every type of dark circle will respond to polynucleotides or mesotherapy.
The aim is to soften crow’s feet while preserving expression. Dr Chris assesses how the muscles move and adjusts the placement and amount accordingly. You should still look like yourself when smiling.
Your Eye Rejuvenation Consultation gives Dr Chris the opportunity to establish what is causing the concern and explain which option is most likely to provide a worthwhile improvement.
Yes. Some patients may benefit from addressing under-eye skin quality separately from expression lines at the outer corners of the eyes. If more than one treatment has a useful role, Dr Chris will explain how they can be sequenced within one plan.
