What to Expect From a Sciton Laser Consultation at Noaem Skin

Considering a laser treatment might sound a little scary but it doesn’t need to be. Noaem Skin is a medically-led practice and we always start every skin journey with a face to face consultation, so you can ensure you’re in safe hands – and this is absolutely how it should be! Thorough consultations are an extremely important step as everyone’s skin is different – some suffer from pigmentation and redness, others from texture or fine lines and wrinkles – and all skin ages differently. We want to get to know your goals, and the biological behaviour of your skin. From there, we begin to create a bespoke skin strategy. So here is really everything you need to know about a Sciton Laser consultation at Noaem Skin.

Step 1: Understanding Your Skin Goals

Our skin consultations always begin with a discussion about your major concerns. Typically, we talk about what bothers you most about your skin. For some that might be enlarged pores and uneven texture, it might be dullness, ageing or sun damage. We find people have an enormous variety of concerns and lots of people are affected by multiple issues, but we want to know your drivers. Is your skin affecting your confidence? Are you seeking correction, prevention or on-going maintenance of your skin?

Whatever your goals and concerns, we want you to feel at ease talking about them and knowing, with our medical backgrounds and expertise, you’re in the care of specialists.

Step 2: A Professional Skin Assessment

Part of the Sciton laser consultation process will be assessing your skin. We’ll look at:

  • Skin tone and Fitzpatrick type
  • Pigmentation type and depth
  • Vascular concerns (redness or broken vessels)
  • Skin texture and pore size
  • Signs of sun damage
  • Early or advanced signs of ageing
  • Skin barrier health
  • Risk factors for pigmentation conditions such as melasma

This is another important step in any laser consultation because we need to ensure the treatments we recommend are totally safe and appropriate for your skin type.

Step 3: Choosing the Right Treatment

At Noaem Skin in Brighton & Hove we have both the BBL HEROic and MOXI lasers but each device treats different concerns. For example, the BBL HEROic is used for pigmentation, redness and vascular concerns, sun damage, uneven skin tone and overall skin rejuvenation. Whereas the MOXI laser focuses more on skin texture, fine lines, pores and early signs of ageing. The MOXI laser is a great preventative treatment and it is safe for all skin types. We also offer a combination of both treatments in one session for enhanced results. It’s important to get an understanding for your concerns to see what might work best for you.

Step 4: Creating a Personalised Treatment Plan

At this point it’s a good idea to discuss a series of treatments as part of a plan to ensure quality results that last. We all know great skin takes time and consistency so a personalised treatment plan is the best place to start. We typically have two approaches depending on where you are in your skin journey. We will either suggest a corrective phase – usually several treatments spaced a few weeks apart – or a maintenance phase to preserve results long term.

At Noaem Skin in Brighton & Hove we promote a skin health for life approach. Your skin is a living organ which needs to last your entire life and be cared for similarly to other organs. One-off treatments are of course better than nothing but it does not care for and support your skin long term in the same way a course of treatments will. Caring for your skin needs to become an integral part of your self care and wellbeing routine.

Step 5: Discussing Lifestyle, Transparency and Safety

Part of the laser consultation will also explore practical considerations such as your expectations in terms of downtime, comfort levels during treatments and budgets for your investment. We’ll also want to know your sun exposure habits and if your lifestyle will permit you to follow certain aftercare instructions. This conversation will ensure the plan fits into your lifestyle and expectations.

We will discuss with you what different treatments feel like, your expected recovery and any possible temporary side effects. We promise clear communication and transparency are central to this process.

Step 6: Photography & Documentation

At Noaem Skin we always take photographs during a consultation to document the starting point in your skin journey. This also allows us to track progress during a course of treatments and means we’re better able to measure results over the long term.

A Partnership for Long-Term Skin Health

As you’ve probably twigged by now, Noaem Skin’s philosophy is that a Sciton Laser consultation is the beginning of a long-term skin journey. The goal is not simply to perform treatments but to protect and improve skin quality over time. We want you to leave the consultation with a clear, personalised plan for your skin.

And we make every possible effort to ensure our consultations are relaxed, informative, and designed to help you make confident decisions about your skin health.
