Laser and Light Treatments
Laser and light treatments can address changes within the skin that topical skincare cannot reliably reach. At Noaem Skin, BBL HEROic, MOXI, SkinSmooth, Forever Clear and SkinTyte are used for distinct concerns: pigmentation and redness, textural change, inflammatory acne and early loss of firmness.
Treatment does not begin by selecting a device. Every new laser patient attends a clinical consultation with Observ520x imaging before a plan is recommended, to establish which technology has a clear role, whether treatments should be combined and when another approach would be more appropriate.
BBL HEROic
FOR PIGMENTATION AND VISIBLE REDNESS
BBL HEROic uses filtered broadband light rather than a traditional laser. It may be recommended for sun spots, freckles, diffuse sun damage, persistent facial redness or visible vessels.
Different filters allow the treatment to address appropriate brown or red changes within the skin.
MOXI
For fractional renewal, texture and broader skin quality
MOXI is a non-ablative fractional laser with a wavelength of 1927 nm. It creates microscopic treatment zones within the skin while leaving surrounding tissue intact to support recovery.
MOXI may improve uneven texture, visible pores and early changes associated with photoageing. It can be used across all Fitzpatrick skin types following assessment and may form part of a carefully managed plan for melasma.
Combined BBL HEROic and MOXI
For colour and texture within one appointment
BBL HEROic and MOXI may be performed together when suitable pigmentation or redness occurs alongside uneven texture or broader sun damage.
BBL HEROic addresses the colour component before MOXI is delivered across the treatment area for fractional renewal. The combination allows both concerns to be treated within one appointment and followed by one recovery period.
BBL Forever Clear
For active inflammatory acne and associated redness
Forever Clear uses a three-pass broadband light protocol for suitable inflammatory acne. Blue filtered light addresses acne-associated bacteria. Yellow filtered light is then used for inflammation and redness, followed by an infrared pass that supports the tissue response.
At Noaem Skin, Forever Clear is available to patients aged 18 and over for suitable acne affecting the face, chest or back.
BBL SkinSmooth 640S
For early textural change and visible refinement
SkinSmooth uses the 640S BBL HEROic filter to improve the appearance of texture, visible pores and early fine lines. It can be provided as a standalone treatment with little interruption to normal activities. It may also be incorporated into selected BBL HEROic maintenance appointments where limited pigment or vascular correction is required.
SkinSmooth is not normally added when BBL HEROic and MOXI are already being delivered together.
BBL SkinTyte
For mild-to-moderate skin laxity on the face or body
SkinTyte uses infrared light in continuous motion to heat the dermis while cooling protects the surface. It may be used where skin has begun to feel less firm around the jawline or neck. Suitable areas of the body can also be treated.
SkinTyte may be used independently or sequenced with another treatment where each has a clear role.
Why assessment and imaging matter
Pigmentation, redness and changes in texture can have several causes. A treatment that is appropriate for sun spots may be unsuitable for hormonally influenced pigmentation, while persistent redness must be distinguished from temporary sensitivity or active inflammation.
Every laser consultation at Noaem includes Observ520x clinical skin imaging. Different light modes help reveal patterns of pigmentation, vascular activity and sun damage that may be less apparent under ordinary light. The images are interpreted alongside your medical history, clinical examination and recent sun exposure.
For facial BBL HEROic and MOXI courses, imaging is repeated at each session and again four weeks after the final treatment. Standardised clinical photography is used when the area cannot be assessed fully by the scanner.

Once a corrective course is complete, maintenance is planned. SkinSmooth may sometimes be incorporated into a maintenance BBL appointment when limited pigment or vascular correction is required. It is not a guaranteed stage of every BBL treatment.
Laser Treatment FAQs
BBL HEROic is generally used for pigmentation or visible redness. MOXI provides fractional renewal, while SkinSmooth is used for gentler textural refinement. Forever Clear is intended for suitable inflammatory acne and SkinTyte addresses mild-to-moderate laxity. If both colour and fractional renewal require treatment, BBL HEROic and MOXI may be combined.
The recommendation follows assessment and imaging rather than the treatment name selected online.
MOXI can be used across all skin tones. The suitability of BBL-based treatments depends on the filter, treatment indication and amount of melanin present in the skin. SkinSmooth and SkinTyte may be appropriate for darker skin tones because they are designed to limit surface heating, but individual assessment remains essential.
The response depends on the technology. BBL HEROic may cause temporary redness and darkening of targeted pigment. MOXI creates a dry or lightly bronzed texture that generally sheds between days three and five. SkinSmooth and SkinTyte usually cause temporary warmth or redness. Forever Clear may produce warmth and a short-lived increase in visible inflammation during the early part of a course.

MOXI may form part of a carefully managed melasma plan. BBL HEROic is not routinely used where melasma is suspected because poorly selected heat and light treatments can aggravate hormonally driven pigmentation. Diagnosis and skin preparation come first.

Yes, where each has a defined role. BBL HEROic and MOXI are frequently combined when both colour and fractional renewal need attention. SkinTyte may be followed by MOXI where appropriate. SkinSmooth is not normally added to combined BBL HEROic and MOXI because MOXI already provides the fractional renewal component.

The one-hour laser consultation costs £95 and is fully redeemable against treatment. It includes Observ520x imaging and a clinical assessment with Iki Rhode or Dr Chris. You will receive a recommendation based on the findings, including when treatment should not proceed or another route would be more appropriate.
Meet Iki and Dr Chris
Noaem was founded by prescribing pharmacist Iki Rhode and Dr Christopher Vary to bring medical rigour to the long-term care of skin.
Iki is a GPhC-registered pharmacist and independent prescriber with more than 20 years of clinical experience. Dr Chris is a GMC-registered doctor with a background in anaesthesia and critical care. Every consultation and treatment is carried out by one of them, with recommendations based on clinical judgement rather than a predetermined treatment pathway.
