Laser Treatments: Sciton BBL HEROic and MOXI
At Noaem Skin in Hove, we offer Sciton BBL HEROic and MOXI – advanced light and laser treatments designed to elevate skin clarity, tone and texture. Serving clients across Brighton and Sussex, these technologies allow us to address pigmentation, redness and overall skin refinement with precision and care. Each treatment is thoughtfully prescribed following consultation and may be delivered individually or combined within a tailored programme.
Differences between Sciton's BBL HEROic and MOXI lasers
While both sit within the Sciton platform, BBL HEROic and MOXI focus on different dimensions of the skin.
BBL HEROic is our treatment for colour – targeting pigmentation, sun damage and visible redness, often described simply as “browns and reds,” to restore a clearer, more even-toned appearance. In addition to visible improvement, broad-band light has been shown to stimulate biological processes within the skin associated with renewal and resilience. Gene expression of aged skin more closely resembles young skin with the use of Sciton BroadBand Light treatment
MOXI is centred on refinement. As a gentle fractional laser, it enhances texture, supports smoother skin and brings renewed luminosity over time.
When appropriate, the two may be combined to address both tone and texture within a carefully structured course, allowing for a more comprehensive and elegant transformation.
BBL HEROic + MOXI - Our Signature Combined Approach
For many clients, the most comprehensive approach to skin rejuvenation is the combined use of BBL HEROic and MOXI, often referred to as a “stacked” treatment. At Noaem Skin in Hove, this signature pairing allows us to address both colour concerns and textural refinement within a single, carefully structured session. By layering advanced broad-band light with fractional laser technology, we are able to support clearer tone, smoother texture and enhanced skin vitality in a cohesive treatment plan.
If appropriate, treatments may also be delivered individually. During consultation, we will advise whether BBL, MOXI or a combination approach is best suited to your skin.
- Simultaneously addresses pigmentation, redness and uneven tone
- Refines texture and improves the appearance of pores
- Supports collagen stimulation and deeper skin renewal
- Enhances overall clarity, luminosity and skin quality
- Provides a more comprehensive rejuvenation strategy
- Delivered efficiently with low-to-moderate downtime
When performed together, BBL and MOXI complement one another – BBL targeting “browns and reds,” and MOXI focusing on refinement – creating a more complete and balanced outcome than either treatment alone.
Combined treatment typically begins with BBL HEROic to address pigmentation and vascular concerns, followed by MOXI to support textural renewal.
You may experience warmth during the light portion of the treatment and a light prickling sensation during the fractional laser phase. Numbing cream will be applied if appropriate.
Sessions generally last between 30–45 minutes, depending on the area treated and the level of correction required.
Redness is expected afterwards and small darkened micro-spots may appear as part of the skin’s natural healing response.
Preparation mirrors that of individual BBL HEROic and MOXI treatments.
You may be advised to:
- Avoid sun exposure and tanning
- Pause certain active skincare products
- Avoid self-tanning products
A full consultation will determine suitability and allow us to tailor intensity according to your skin type and treatment goals.
Redness and warmth are common immediately following treatment and may last several days.
Pigmented areas may temporarily darken and small micro-spots from the MOXI portion may develop before naturally shedding between days three to five.
Most clients are able to return to normal daily activities shortly after treatment, though individual recovery varies. Make-up can typically be applied 24 hours after treatment.
For optimal results, a structured course is usually recommended, followed by maintenance sessions to preserve long-term clarity and refinement.
Sciton's BBL HEROic
BBL HEROic is Sciton’s advanced BroadBand Light® treatment designed to improve the appearance of pigmentation, redness and uneven tone. At Noaem Skin in Hove, we use BBL HEROic to address what we often describe as “browns and reds” – including sun damage, age spots, visible capillaries and diffuse redness – while also supporting collagen stimulation and long-term skin vitality. Suitable for the face and selected areas of the body, BBL HEROic is delivered as part of a structured treatment course following consultation.
- Improves the appearance of sun damage, age spots and freckles
- Reduces visible redness and broken capillaries
- Enhances overall skin tone, clarity and luminosity
- Supports collagen stimulation and skin elasticity
- Addresses dullness and uneven pigmentation
- Suitable for treatment of the face and body
- Designed with minimal disruption to daily routine
BBL HEROic allows us to treat a broad range of colour-related concerns while encouraging healthier-looking, more resilient skin over time.
During treatment, a cooling gel is applied to the skin before pulses of light are delivered using a handheld device. You may experience a brief sensation of warmth as the light energy is absorbed. Protective eyewear will be provided throughout the procedure.
Sessions typically last 20–30 minutes depending on the area treated. Most patients tolerate the procedure well, and anaesthetic cream is not usually required.
BBL works in two ways: it targets pigmented and vascular areas within the skin, while also gently heating deeper tissue to stimulate biological activity associated with collagen support and renewal.
A consultation will be carried out prior to treatment to assess suitability and discuss your skin concerns in detail.
To ensure safe and optimal results, you may be advised to avoid sun exposure, tanning and self-tanning products in the weeks leading up to your appointment.
Certain active skincare products, such as retinoids or exfoliating acids, may also need to be paused temporarily.
Specific guidance will be provided based on your skin type, medical history and treatment plan.
Mild redness and warmth are common immediately after treatment and typically settle within 24 – 48 hours.
Pigmented areas may temporarily darken before gradually fading and shedding over the following days. This is part of the normal healing process.
Most clients are able to resume normal daily activities shortly after treatment, although individual responses vary. Make-up can usually be applied within 24 hours.
Strict sun protection is essential following treatment.
A course of treatments is typically recommended, often spaced a few weeks apart, with maintenance sessions advised to support long-term skin clarity.
Sciton's moxi laser
MOXI is a gentle, non-ablative fractional laser designed to improve skin tone, texture and overall luminosity. At Noaem Skin in Hove, we use MOXI to address early signs of sun damage and ageing, refine uneven texture and support progressive skin renewal. Suitable for a range of skin types, MOXI may be delivered as a corrective course or incorporated into a longer-term skin maintenance plan.
- Improves the appearance of uneven pigmentation and tone
- Refines skin texture and enhances smoothness
- Softens the appearance of fine lines
- Supports collagen stimulation and cellular renewal
- Suitable for a wide range of skin types
- Designed with low-to-moderate downtime
- Can be incorporated into ongoing skin maintenance
MOXI offers a controlled and progressive approach to skin revitalisation, making it appropriate for both early intervention and ongoing refinement.
MOXI delivers fractionated laser energy to the skin, creating precise micro-coagulation zones that stimulate the body’s natural repair process. As the skin renews itself, damaged cells are gradually replaced with healthier, fresher tissue.
During treatment, you may experience warmth with a light prickling sensation. Depending on the intensity of treatment, numbing cream will be applied for comfort. Sessions typically last between 15 – 30 minutes and are usually well tolerated.
Following treatment, redness similar to mild sun exposure is common. Small, darkened micro-spots (sometimes referred to as MENDS) may appear where the laser was delivered. As these areas heal, they may feel slightly rough before naturally shedding over several days.
Visible improvement develops progressively across a course of treatments.
A consultation will be carried out prior to treatment to assess suitability and discuss your skin concerns.
You may be advised to:
- Avoid sun exposure and tanning in the weeks leading up to treatment

Redness is common immediately after treatment and may last several days depending on intensity. As the skin begins its renewal process, small darkened spots may develop and feel slightly textured before gradually shedding between days three to five.
Make-up can usually be applied 24 hours after treatment.
Post-treatment care is straightforward but important. We recommend:
- Daily use of a broad-spectrum physical sunscreen
- Avoiding direct sun exposure
- Using gentle, hydrating skincare as advised
Most clients undergo a course of three to four treatments, followed by maintenance sessions where appropriate to support ongoing skin refinement.
Laser Treatment FAQs
Both BBL HEROic and MOXI are generally well tolerated. Most clients describe BBL HEROic as a brief warm sensation as pulses of light are delivered, while MOXI may feel like light prickling or heat across the skin. Depending on the intensity of treatment and individual sensitivity, numbing cream may be used to enhance comfort. Any warmth experienced during the procedure typically settles shortly afterwards.
Downtime is usually low to moderate, depending on the treatment performed.
With BBL HEROic, mild redness is common and typically settles within 24 – 48 hours. Pigmented areas may temporarily darken before gradually fading.
With MOXI, redness may last several days and small darkened micro-spots may develop as part of the skin’s natural renewal process before shedding between days three to five.
When treatments are combined, recovery may reflect elements of both. Most clients are able to return to normal daily activities shortly after treatment, although individual responses vary. Strict sun protection is essential.
The number of sessions required depends on your individual skin concerns and treatment goals. For corrective treatment, a course of three to four sessions is commonly recommended for MOXI and generally three sessions for BBL HEROic, spaced a few weeks apart. When combined, your treatment plan will be tailored accordingly.
Maintenance sessions are advised to support long-term skin clarity and refinement.
Some improvement in tone and clarity may be visible within one to two weeks following treatment.
However, optimal results develop progressively across a course of treatments as the skin undergoes renewal and collagen stimulation. The skin may continue to improve in the weeks following each session.
Both treatments are suitable for a wide range of skin types. However, suitability depends on factors such as skin tone, recent sun exposure, medical history and specific skin concerns.
With BBL HEROic, we would generally avoid very dark skin tones however MOXI is suitable for all skin tones making it a favourable choice for skin of colour.
A detailed consultation is essential to determine the safest and most appropriate approach for your skin.
Results vary depending on skin type, lifestyle factors and ongoing sun exposure.
Following a course of treatments, improvements in tone and texture can be long lasting. Periodic maintenance sessions, combined with appropriate skincare and sun protection, help preserve results over time.
Yes. BBL HEROic and MOXI may be combined with one another – often within the same session – for a more comprehensive approach to tone and texture.
They may also be incorporated into broader treatment plans alongside selected injectable or skin treatments, where appropriate. Your personalised plan will be discussed during consultation.
